Box Score Rochester, NY   – Another tough match for the SUNY Oneonta Men's Tennis Team this time pitted against the University of Rochester Yellowjackets with their No. 18 ranking in the Northeast region.  No easy task for the Red Dragons who just this past weekend played two top ranked teams in Ohio.  The Red Dragons were again not able to match the firepower of the Yellowjackets and were disposed of with a 9-0 score.

Some highlights for the Red Dragons occurred in the doubles when both the number two team of junior Tim Distler and sophomore Nicholas Fox (Commack/Commack) and number three team of junior Zach Lasky (Latham/Colonie) and freshman Marco Ammirati (Huntington/Huntington) both hung around in their matches but both teams lost their matches by one break each with both teams playing respectable tennis.

The singles highlights came from the number one player senior Michael Nelson (Manhasset/Manhasset) who was actually up a break of serve and in position to win the set but was broken back and dropped the set followed by his opponent who raised the level his play and took the match 6-4, 6-0.  Number five Lasky lost a close first set but kept the match close in the second set even holding a set point at 5-4 but could not convert and his opponent won the next three games and took the match 6-4, 7-5.  At number six singles Fox also kept things close at the beginning of each set but were broken twice and fell to his opponent 6-3, 6-3.

Next up for the SUNY Oneonta Men's Tennis Team in this most difficult schedule they have is competing against Nichols College the defending Commonwealth Coast Conference champions and current first place occupants.  The match is scheduled for 1 PM, Saturday, April 8th on the campus of Nichols College in Dudley, MA.
