Cortland, NY - The SUNY Oneonta men's swimming and diving squad had a challenging day and lost to their conference rival SUNY Cortland 168-126 in the pool battle of the Red Dragons.
 
Highlights for the Red Dragons were as follows: 1000 Yard Freestyle found two Oneonta successes when senior Conor Kelly (Staten Island/Saint Peter's) took the top position touching the wall with a time of 10:27.26 with his teammate freshman Jared Ciccarelli (Staten Island/Tottenville) finishing less than seven seconds behind in the runner-up spot. Kelly later in the day scored a win in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.86 only.30 seconds ahead of the Cortland second place finished.  Ciccarelli had a win of his own in the 500-yard freestyle touching the wall with a time of 5:09.09. Freshman Scott Richardson (Canandaigua/Canandaigua Academy ) took the winner's position in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.36 just .37 seconds ahead of the Cortland second place swimmer. Richardson scored a victory also in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.19 as teammate senior Greg Fothergill (Lindenhurst/Lindenhurst Senior) was just .77 behind him with a runner-up position.
 
Junior Zeke Brynin (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) turned in a win with a time of 59.97 in the 100-yard breaststroke almost four seconds ahead of the Cortland runner-up.
 
The men's swimming and diving team will now prepare for the SUNYAC Championships beginning on February 16th at Erie Community College.
