Oneonta, NY Â - The SUNY Oneonta women's swimming & diving team rang in the new year with a decisive win against the Brockport Golden Eagles today 167-128.
In the first event of the day, the foursome of senior
Sarah Greco (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun), sophomore
Julia Llewellyn (East Islip/East Islip High School) and freshmen
Ally Federman (Delmar/Bethlehem) and
Kelly Carey (Suffern/Suffern) won the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:56.76 more than three seconds ahead of their Red Dragon Teammates securing 15 points. Carey later took first in both the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke with times of 1:11.12 and 2:34.84 respectively.
Llewellyn also found the winners circle in the 200 yard individual medley touching the wall with a time of 2:20.65 and the 200 yard backstroke touching in a time of 2:16.85. Â
The Red Dragons continued their winning ways when junior
Kylie Loforte (Farmington/Canandaigua Academy ) found triumph in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:37.13 more than six seconds ahead of the Brockport competitor. Freshman
Nicole Lapinski (Pine Push/Pine Bush) was a victor in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.28 with runner-up junior
Casey Signorelli (Massapequa/Massapequa) finishing just .51 behind her.Â
The successful trend continued for the Red Dragons when, in the final women's event of the day, the foursome of Greco, Federman, Llewellyn and junior
Kylie Loforte (Farmington/Canandaigua Academy ) won the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time in at 3:50.21 collecting an additional 11 points for the win.Â
The women's swimming and diving team will have a week off before heading to SUNY New Paltz to compete against the Hawks on Saturday, January 21 beginning at 1 PM.
