The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team got back on the winning track today with a SUNYAC victory at Morrisville 3-1. The win for the Red Dragons improves them to 2-2 in the SUNYAC and 3-8 overall. Morrisville drops to 0-5 in the SUNYAC and 2-12 overall on the season.
The Red Dragons opened up the scoring for the match in the second half when sophomore
Carissa Warren (Harpursville /Harpursville) found the back of the cage from the left of the circle. She was assisted on the play by junior
Sierra Palmatier (Nineveh/Afton Central). The Mustangs would answer 16 minutes later with a goal of their own off the stick of Giovanna Lisi.
The game didn't stay tied for very long, as
Casey Stata (Round Lake/Shenendehowa) would score her second goal of the season less than a minute later. She was assisted on the play by Warren, her fifth assist on the season. The Red Dragons would add an insurance goal in the 65th minute off the stick of
Allyson Wells (Niskayuna/Niskayuna), who picked up her fifth goal of the season.
The Red Dragons dominated in the Mustangs end of the field all game long, outshooting Morrisville 27-3, including nine shots on goal compared to one. The Red Dragons also had 15 penalty corners compared to one by Morrisville.
The Red Dragons are back in action next week against Hamilton on Tuesday, Oct. 18
