The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team lost 2-1 in double overtime today against the Utica College Pioneers. The Red Dragons conceded a goal in the first minute of play before buckling down on defense for the remainder of the contest.
The Red Dragons scored the equalizer with just 10 minutes remaining in the contest. Senior
Hannah Hayward (Glens Falls/Glens Falls) drove the ball to the back of the goal off a penalty corner. The goal was assisted by
Natalie Longo (Endwell/Maine Endwell).
The game would end when the Pioneers scored five minutes into the second overtime. The goal was scored by freshman Brittany Evans on a shot from 12 yards out. This was Evans first collegiate goal.
Senior
Krista Servedio (Shrub Oak/Lakeland) would finish the game with eight saves for Oneonta.
The Red Dragons will be in action again tomorrow at Utica College where they will face St. Lawrence University beginning at 11am.
