The SUNY Oneonta field hockey (2-2) offense stayed hot for a second straight game, as they scored three goals in the first half en route to a 4-1 win against city rival Hartwick (0-2) at Wright Stadium. The Red had four different players score in the victory.
The Red Dragons pressured the Hawks early, earning six penalty corners in the opening six and a half minutes of play. This drive led to a
Natalie Longo (Endwell/Maine Endwell) goal at the 7:35 mark. The goal was powered into the back of net on a rebound shot that lifted to the upper part of the net. Hartwick would answer back, with a goal three minutes later to knot the game at one goal apiece.
The game remained a stalemate until Oneonta's
Madeline Reilly (Pittsford/Pittsford Mendon) finished from in close to put the Red Dragons up once again.
Casey Stata (Round Lake/Shenendehowa) picked up an assist on the play. Three minutes later
Hannah Hayward (Glens Falls/Glens Falls) dribbled into the circle and fired a low, hard shot into the left side of the net to extend the Red Dragons' lead to 3-1.
          Â
In the second half, Oneonta controlled the game with strong offense, as sophomore
Sierra Palmatier (Nineveh/Afton Central) centered a pass to junior
Killeen Martin (Bay Shore/Bay Shore) for the Red Dragons' fourth and final tally.
          Â
Oneonta would hold a 20-6 edge in shots for the game and a 19-4 advantage on penalty corners. Senior
Krista Servedio (Shrub Oak/Lakeland) stopped two Hartwick shots and improved her record to 2-2. Marissa Warren added a defensive save, her second one for this season.Â
The Red Dragons look to keep their red-hot offense going as they take on nationally ranked William Smith in Geneva, NY this Saturday beginning at 11am.
