Box Score The SUNY Oneonta men's tennis team came away with a shutout 9-0 win against hometown rival Hartwick College today.  The match was played on the campus of Hartwick on their senior recognition day with a nice crowd in attendance.

The Red Dragon men got off to a very quick start disposing of the Hawks in doubles competition quickly and jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first stanza of the dual match.  Seniors Benjamin Leighton (Shokan/Onteora) and Mackenzie Park (Elmira/Elmira Free Academy) were pressured in the beginning of their match but pulled away winning the last five games for the win.  Junior Matthew Richards (Bayport/Bayport Bluepoint) and sophomore Matteo Befi (Hastings on Hudson/Hastings) won easily, dominating 8-1 in their match while junior Joseph Morris (Bainbridge/Sidney Senior High School) and freshman Cole Laffitte (East Setauket/Ward Melville) went ahead 6-3 in their match and then withstood a late comeback, which stalled and the pair had to settle for an 8-6 well fought victory.

In singles, the Red Dragons kept the hammer on the Hawks and their rivals could not mount any threatening offense.  Leading the way was Leighton who cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the number one position.  Park, Befi, Laffitte and Richards also glided their ways to victories in the number two - five spots respectively.  None of these Red Dragon players were ever threatened in their path to triumphs.  Of worthy note was freshman Zach Lasky (Colonie/Colonie) who won easily making it seven out of his last eight matches in the winner's circle and in the last six matches he only lost nine games dominating his opponents in that incredible stretch.

The Red Dragons wrap up their season and hope to make it five wins in a row on Wednesday, April 29^th at 4 PM on senior recognition day, as they host Union College.
