The SUNY Oneonta's field hockey offense was too much for Brockport to handle today, as the Red Dragons lit up the scoreboard on a dreary Saturday afternoon in Sidney, NY. Oneonta scored two goals in the first half and one in the second for the final of 3-0. The field conditions for the game were a light constant rain, swirling winds and temperature in the 40s.
The Red Dragons offense outshot the Golden Eagles 14-3 while also posting eight more penalty corners than the Golden Eagles (9-1).
The scoring started when junior
Killeen Martin (Bay Shore/Bay Shore) scored 13 minutes into the game off a penalty corner. The goal was assisted by senior
Hannah Hayward (Glens Falls/Glens Falls). The Red Dragons would strike again in the first half off the stick of sophomore
Madeline Reilly (Pittsford/Pittsford Mendon). The last goal was scored late in the second half to put the tally at 3-0. That goal was scored by Hayward with an assist from senior
Tatum Knapp (Marathon/Marathon).
The Red Dragons defense held strong in the rainy conditions, allowing only two shots on goal. Both of those shots were saved by
Krista Servedio (Shrub Oak/Lakeland), as she recorded her second shutout of the year.
The Red Dragons are back in action against Hamilton College on October 8
th at 6pm. Please check the website for the location of the game.
