The SUNY Oneonta Red Dragon's women's swimming and diving team returned home for the first time since November 7th and celebrated the long time away from the Chase PE Pool with a win against SUNYAC rival Brockport, 126-117, setting several pool records in the process.
In the 1650 yard freestyle junior
Lauren Zentko (Glenville/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) took first place and secured nine points for the Red Dragons with an extraordinary performance of 18:52.62, setting the pool record, almost 34 seconds ahead of the second place finisher and teammate junior Lauren Steuerman.  Zentko later followed up her record setting performance anchoring the 800 yard freestyle relay in another spectacular triumph setting an additional pool record. Joining teammates freshman
Kylie Loforte (Farmington/Canandaigua Academy ), senior
Carly Cahill (Troy/Troy), junior
Taylor Waldrop (Fairport/Fairport) they timed in at 8:18.13 taking first place and 11 points that was over nine seconds ahead of the next finishers from Brockport. On a very memorable day for Zentko, she also found the winners circle in the 100 yard butterfly touching the wall at 1:00.99 just 3.18 seconds ahead of her teammate senior
Hillary Chocko (Queensbury/Queensbury).

Earlier in the meet, Waldrop took first place in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.73, .33 seconds ahead of the runner up finisher from Brockport. Later on in the 500 yard freestyle the Red Dragons took first, second and third as Waldrop timed in at 5:35.50 securing the win with senior
Kelly Ruf (Poughkeepsie/Roy C. Ketcham) and Steuerman following right behind respectfully securing 16 points for their victorious Red Dragons team.
A notable performance was turned in during the 100 yard breaststroke, as Brockport senior Melanie Melewski set a pool record taking the event with a time of 1:06.06 ahead of a very respectable finish from Chocko who took the runner up position with a time of 1:11.24 good for four points. The Golden Eagles had another record setting performance when Lydia Allen combined scores in diving added up to 424.70 making that a collective event pool record.
The women will be back in action on Saturday, January 24th as they compete against its conference rival SUNY New Paltz beginning at 1 PM at the Elting Pool on the campus of SUNY New Paltz.
