The SUNY Cortland field hockey team held SUNY Oneonta to just four shots today enroute to a 3-0 victory on the road. The contest was the opening game for both squads in the SUNYAC, as Cortland moved to 5-2 overall while Oneonta fell to 3-4.

Cortland scored its first goal of the game in the 17
th minute when a clearing attempt by the Oneonta defense was intercepted. Alexa Sanzone was able to block the clearing attempt and control the ball enough to send a shot into the lower right corner of the goal.

Cortland made it 2-0 in the 32
nd minute off a penalty corner. Shelby Underwood inserted the ball to Jillian Vogl, who then fired a shot that beat Oneonta goalie,
Tess Tracy (Liverpool/Liverpool), to her stick side.

Another penalty corner led to Cortland's final goal in the 46
th minute. Vogl again had a solid chance that was saved by
Krista Servedio (Shrub Oak/Lakeland), who entered the game at the start of the second half. On the ensuing rebound, Brittany Murphy collected the rebound and sent it to the back of the goal for her first goal of the season.

Tracy made five saves in her half of play while Servedio made a pair of stops in the second half.

Winning goalie Amanda Perricone made one save in the first half and picked up her fifth win of the season. Mairead Hourihan played the entire second half and made two saves to preserve the shutout.

Oneonta will be back in action again tomorrow at home, as they host Oswego beginning at 1pm on All College Field.
