The SUNY Oneonta Women's Swimming & Diving team made it four in a row on Saturday by downing their city rivals from Hartwick 172-116.
In the Sally Griffiths Herbert Aquatic Center on the campus of Hartwick College The Red Dragons extended their winning streak with an impressive win beating the Hawks in convincing fashion. Starting with the Women's 400 Yard Medley Relay Seniors
Carly Cahill (Troy/Troy) and
Hillary Chocko (Queensbury/Queensbury) teamed with Junior
Lauren Zentko (Glenville/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Sophomore
Sarah Greco (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) to take the opening event with a time of 4:14.15 more than two seconds ahead of their runner ups from Hartwick College.Â
Hillary Chocko (Queensbury/Queensbury) was also successful in the Women's 100 Yard Breaststroke touching in at number one with a time of 11:11.44 and behind her was teammate Sophomore
Nicole DiFilippo (Danville,PA/Danville ) coming in as a close runner-up just under one second behind. This was also good for 13 points in Red Dragons column.  Zentko also took the winners spot by triumphing in the Women's 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 10:59.47 in a very close race with the second place finisher from the Hawks coming in less than one second behind. Zentko continued on with her successful run later in the afternoon coming in first in the Women's 500 Yard Freestyle.
Cahill would not be outdone by her teammates when she took the number one position in The Women's 100 Yard Backstroke. Her time in the event was 1:03.33 and just behind her in second place was teammate and Junior Tayor Waldrop; Cahill and Waldrop between them tallied another 13 points for The Red Dragons. Waldrop found the winners circle again later in the afternoon when she took a win in the Women's 200 Yard Backstroke.   Later on Senior
Kelly Ruf (Poughkeepsie/Roy C. Ketcham) was a winner in the Women's 200 Yard Butterfly race with a time of 2:20.69 almost three whole seconds ahead of her closest finisher from The Hartwick Hawks. Later in the 50 Yard Women's Freestyle Freshman
Kylie Loforte (Farmington/Canandaigua Academy ) prevailed with a time of 25.39 and then followed that performance up with a victory in the Women's 100 Yard Freestyle touching in at 56.44.
The diving competition found Red Dragon Senior
Kara Garbarino (Latham/Shaker) taking first in two separate dives. Winning in the One Meter and Three Meter dive Garbarino earned 18 points with scores of 212.80 and 209.45 respectfully.
In the final win of the afternoon for the Red Dragons the team of Senior
Carly Cahill (Troy/Troy), Junior Kristen Higgins,
Taylor Waldrop (Fairport/Fairport) and
Kylie Loforte (Farmington/Canandaigua Academy ) were successful in the Women's 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. Their time of 3:49.44 was over two seconds ahead of the second place finishers from Hartwick College.
The Women's Swimming and Diving Team will head to Lancaster, PA next weekend where they will compete in the Franklin and Marshall Invitational beginning on Friday, November 21st at 6 PM.
