ONEONTA, N.Y. - Oneonta Head Athletic Trainer Shelby Croft announced the hiring of two assistant athletic trainers to kick off the fall season, bringing the Oneonta Sports Medicine staff to four. Danielle Christensen and Anna Reinshagen joined the Red Dragons this August.
Christensen comes to Oneonta after serving as an Immersive Athletic Training Student at the Ohio State University while completing her Master of Science in Athletic Training at the University of Buffalo. At Ohio State, she monitored and assisted in the day-to-day holistic healthcare for the women's gymnastics team. Christensen evaluated injuries and developed treatment plans for the athletes. She also created and facilitated rehabilitation plans for ACL reconstruction, ankle reconstruction, and chronic hamstring tendinosis with PRP procedures.
Before Ohio State, Christensen was an athletic training student at SUNY Erie, Hilbert College, and Buffalo State. She performed sideline evaluations during games and helped with rehabilitation plans for various teams and athletes. Christensen also worked at the International Gymnastics Camp, the Buffalo Bills Rookie OTAs and MiniCamp, the Ringling Brothers Circus, and NHL Referee Combine. She received her Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers in 2024.
Reinshagen comes to Oneonta following clinical experience at Sewanee: The University of the South, where she worked with men's and women's lacrosse, baseball, softball, track & field, and men's and women's basketball. She worked with the Syracuse football team in 2024 and the SUNY Cortland baseball team in the spring of 2024. Reinshagen assisted with the Newark Valley High School basketball and wrestling teams, and also worked at SUNY Cortland Communal Care.
Reinshagen completed her undergraduate degree in exercise science at Cortland in 2023 and is expected to earn her master's degree in athletic training at Cortland in May 2025. While at Cortland, Reinshagen was a member of the Athletic Trainers Club and served as captain of the women's rugby team.
Additionally, she is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and is certified in CPR/AED by the American Heart Association.
