Oneonta woke up Saturday eyeing a rebound following Friday night's loss to Fredonia, and did just that. Saturday's first match brought the challenge of Geneseo upon the Red and White; a challenge they were more than ready to take. It took four sets for the Red Dragons to burn the Knights with the score sheet reading 25-18, 14-25, 25-23, 26-24.
Jill Darpino (Endicott/Union Endicott) continues to be a force for the Red and White attack registering 13 kills to led the team. Defensively,
Allyson Coniglione (Glenville/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) recorded 19 digs to lead the squad's defensive effort. Sophomore
Erika Corbin (Kirkwood/Windsor) and senior
Kristen Polan (Westhampton/Westhampton Beach) set the tone up front with five block assists each.
Â
Right after their defeat of Geneseo, the Red Dragons welcomed another challenge, this time from the Lakers of Oswego. The Red and White took the five set thriller 25-23, 21-25, 22-25, 25-16, 15-8. Darpino again led the Oneonta attack adding 17 kills to her stats.
Paige Carpluk (Yaphank/Bellport) showed her ability to play both sides of the ball with 10 kills and 13 digs, each second on the team for the match. Coniglione again led the way with 26 digs. Polan's pair of solo blocks led the squad, while Kassidy Keivit helped on six blocks.

After tackling two of the conference's top squads, Oneonta travels to MIT next weekend. The Red and White finish SUNYAC play the following weekend, October 24-25, in Plattsburgh.
