The SUNY Oneonta women's swimming and diving team travelled to Brockport this afternoon and returned home victorious, defeating the host 117-106. The win improves their record to 5-1 in dual meets this season.
Leading the way for the Red Dragons was sophomore
Lauren Zentko (Glenville/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), who won two individual events and as a member of a winning relay team. Zentko took victory in the 400 yard intermediate medley with a time of 4:46.98 and also the 500 yard freestyle, touching the wall in 5:19.93.
Zentko teamed up with
Carly Cahill (Troy/Troy),
Nicole DiFilippo (Danville,PA/Danville ) and
Chandler Shepard (Delhi/Delaware Academy) to take the win in the 400 yard medley relay in a time of 4:07.73 to open the afternoon.
Shepard also touched the wall in first in the 100 yard freestyle, finishing in 55.18.
Other individual even winners were
Taylor Waldrop (Fairport/Fairport) in the 1000 yard freestyle (11:21.90),
Kelly Ruf (Poughkeepsie/Roy C. Ketcham) in the 200 yard butterfly (2:16.36) and
Kara Garbarino (Latham/Shaker) in 3 meter diving (179.75).
Oneonta will be in the pool again next Saturday, January 25th, when they host New Paltz for a dual meet starting at 1 p.m.
