Field Hockey tripped up by #15 Skidmore

Falls 4-2 on the road

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.  - Three unanswered goals in the second half gave the Skidmore field hockey team a come from behind victory over Oneonta, 4-2, in non-conference action today at Wagner Park. The loss was the first of the season for the Red Dragons as they are now 4-1.

The Thoroughbreds struck first as Dani DeGregory scored off a backhand at the 6:17 mark into the game. Oneonta would respond a minute and a half later to even the score at 1-1. Kelcy Forbragd (Camden/Camden) found the ball in front of the goal off her first shot that was saved by Haley McDougall, and tucked it in for her team leading sixth of the season.

Freshman Erin Butler (Walton/Walton) would put the Red Dragons up 2-1 with a goal just before the halftime break. Butler picked up the ball after a scramble in front of the Skidmore goal and slotted it past McDougall for her third of the season.

Skidmore (3-1) took control of the game as they out shot the Red Dragons 14-2 in the second half. Kelly Blackhurst one-timed a pass from Krista Lamoreau past Oneonta's goalie, Krista Servedio (Shrub Oak/Lakeland), to tie the game five minutes into the half . Lamoreaux would become the recipient of a pass from Alex Hagney to give the Thoroughbreds the lead 3-2 in the 45th minute of play.

The Thoroughbreds continued to press and added an insurance goal at the 60:48 mark when Hagney took the pass from Lamoreaux for the 4-2 lead.

Servedio made ten saves in the game while her counterpart, McDougall, had six.

Oneonta will be in action again this Saturday, September 14th when they host #10 William Smith for a non-conference game starting at 1:00 p.m.
