Box Score The SUNY Oneonta men's soccer team scored three goals in the final 12 minutes today to take a shutout win at Brockport in SUNYAC men's action. Three different players scored for the Red Dragons, who upped its record to 5-3-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Oneonta will be at SUNY Geneseo tomorrow for a 1pm game.
Although dominating the game with nothing to show for it, the SUNY Oneonta men's soccer team finally broke through in the 79th minute en route to the shutout victory. Sophomore
Justin Rivera (Bay Shore/Bay Shore) led Oneonta with a goal and an assist in the match. He assisted on the second goal for the Red Dragons in the 88th minute and then scored the final goal of the contest in the 89th minute.
Today's first goal for Oneonta came from senior
Ian Tenzer (Mahopac/Mahopac), who scored his first of the year in his third game back from injury that kept him out of the first six games of the season. His goal came off a corner kick when he collected a rebounding ball before putting a shot in the goal.
Freshman
Alex Winiarski (Great Neck/St. Anthony's) scored his first collegiate goal to give the Red Dragons a 2-0 lead with less than three minutes left in regulation. Winiarski took a pass from Rivera and then blasted a shot from the top of the box that beat Brockport keeper Casey Sullivan.
Sophomore goalie,
Daniel DeBottis (Cicero/C-NS), made four saves in goal for Oneonta as he picked up his second win of the season along with recording his second shutout of the season.
Oneonta outshot the Golden Eagles 17-11 including an 8-3 advantage in the first half.
