The SUNY Oneonta women's tennis didn't waste much time in disposing of visiting Oswego today at home. The Red Dragons defeated the Lakers 9-0 to win its second straight match. The win raises Oneonta's record to 4-3 overall while the loss for Oswego drops them to 0-6.
Oneonta surrendered only four points in sweeping doubles to start the match. Senior
Danielle Browarski (Colonie/Colonie) and her partner, junior
Lauren Skolnick (Sayville/Sayville), defeated Nicole Leader and Paige Edgar 8-1 at first doubles. Browarski and Skolnick came back in singles and won in straight sets at first and third singles respectively.
Sophomore
Brynn Sussman (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) and junior
Abigail Smith (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) won 8-1 at second doubles against Hannah Rawlings and Lauren Stall. Sussman was a straight set winner at second singles while Smith won in straight sets at sixth singles.
At third doubles, it was the junior duo of
Emily Maggiore (Binghamton/Binghamton) and
Colette Lankowicz (Sayville/Sayville) defeating Kelly Corwin and Olivia Knierman 8-2. Maggiore was also a winner at fourth singles in straight sets while Lankowicz won in straight sets at fifth singles.
Oneonta will be at Farmingdale State tomorrow for a non-conference match beginning at 1pm.
