Box Score CORTLAND, N.Y. – Oneonta opened by winning all three doubles matches on the way to an 8-1 victory over host Cortland in a SUNYAC East dual match. Oneonta is now 3-3 overall and clinched the SUNYAC East third seed for October's league tournament with a 1-2 division mark. Cortland is 2-3 overall and will be the SUNYAC East fourth seed in the eight-team conference tournament after finishing 0-3 in the division.

Cortland's lone victory came at first singles as senior Loraine Jelinek (Smithtown/Home School) won 7-5, 6-2. Jelinek and junior Jean Martinez (Homer) played a close match at first doubles before losing 8-5 to Danielle Browarski (Colonie/Colonie) and Lauren Skolnick (Sayville/Sayville).

Oneonta's other doubles wins came from Brynn Sussman (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) and Abigail Smith (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) on the second flight, 8-2, and Emily Maggiore (Binghamton/Binghamton) and Colette Lankowicz (Sayville/Sayville) on the third flight, 8-0.

Lankowicz and Cortland freshman Dilara Kumbul (Rochester/Greece Athena) battled at fifth singles, with Lankowicz winning the first set, 7-6, with a 7-4 tiebreaker. Lankowicz completed the sweep with a 6-2 win in the second set. Also for Oneonta, Sussman and Skolnick won by identical 6-0, 6-2 scores at second and third singles, respectively, Maggiore was a 6-1, 6-0 victor at fourth singles and Smith earned a 6-4, 6-0 win at sixth singles.

Oneonta will host Oswego on Friday afternoon beginning at 3pm.
