The Oneonta State women's tennis team defeated SUNY Cortland 7-2 at home today in spring action. The win for Oneonta now evens its dual-match record for the year at 10-10.
Oneonta gained two points in doubles, with one point being earned by a forfeit at third doubles. The tandem of freshman
Brynn Sussman (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) and sophomore Collette Lankowicz earned an 8-3 win at second doubles over Megan Bagg and Amanda Bieglecki.
Cortland's point came at first doubles by the duo of Stephanie DiCapua and Loraine Jelinek as they defeated Oneonta's pair of
Danielle Browarski (Colonie/Colonie) and
Lauren Skolnick (Sayville/Sayville) 8-4.
In singles, Oneonta won five of the six matches for the final margin of victory. The highlight was Browarski's first win over Jelinek in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
Skolnick,
Emily Maggiore (Binghamton/Binghamton), Lankowicz and Brandy McDermott were the other singles winners at 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th respectively.
DiCapua earned Cortland's only win in singles at No. 2 versus Sussman, 6-4, 4-6, 10-5.
