The Oneonta State women's tennis team battled yesterday, but came up short to visiting RIT by the score of 5-4. The loss for the Red Dragons brings its overall dual match record for the year to 9-9 now while RIT left Oneonta with an overall record of 2-7.
Oneonta gained one point in the doubles matches as the tandem of junior
Danielle Browarski (Colonie/Colonie) and junior
Lauren Skolnick (Sayville/Sayville) remained hot, taking its match at first doubles 8-6.
In singles, Oneonta could only manage three points to fall one point shy of winning the overall match. Freshman
Brynn Sussman (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) was steady and won in straight sets at second singles (6-1, 6-2). Skolnick came back after dropping the first set to win at third singles (3-6, 6-2, 6-1). Sophomore
Emily Maggiore (Binghamton/Binghamton) played her best match of the spring in defeating her opponent at fourth singles in a third set, super tiebreaker (7-6, 1-6, 10-7).
The women will be back at it again tomorrow when they host Wheaton College at 1pm.
