ONEONTA, NY - The Oneonta State men's soccer team soared past the College at Brockport this afternoon 3-1 at Red Dragon Soccer Field.  Freshman Justin Rivera (Bay Shore/Bay Shore) (Bay Shore/Bay Shore) assisted on two goals with the third being scored on a penalty kick by senior Jonathan Kowalski (Glens Falls/Glens Falls) (Glens Falls/Glens Falls).

Oneonta is now 5-2-2 overall and 2-0-1 in SUNYAC while Brockport falls to 5-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in SUNYAC.

Oneonta got on the board in the 15th minute of play when Rivera made a great service to junior Eric Fortier (Pleasant Valley/Arlington) (Pleasant Valley/Arlington) who finished the pass off with a header to the top left corner of Brockport's goal.  Oneonta made the goal stand up and went into halftime with the one-goal lead.

The Golden Eagles tied the game early in the second half when Brian Duffy (Hilton/Hilton) capitalized on a penalty kick. Ten minutes later, Oneonta answered back when Kowalski converted his penalty kick.

Oneonta added an insurance goal in the 66th minute when Rivera sent a crossing pass into the box that Gary Laronde (Wheatley Heights/Half Hollow Hills) (Wheatley Heights/Half Hollow Hills) got his foot on to redirect it past Brockport's keeper.

Oneonta out shot the Golden Eagles 9-5 while the two teams were even on corner kicks with four apiece.

The Red Dragons return to conference play tomorrow hosting SUNY Geneseo at 1:00 p.m.
