The Oneonta State men's tennis team was looking to defend its title at the Flower City Tournament in Rochester, N.Y., but came up one win shy falling in the championship match to Roberts Wesleyan, 5-2.  The Red Dragons defeated St. Lawrence and Rochester on Saturday to advance into the final match yesterday.

Newcomers Steve Carey (Norwalk, CT/King School) and Mackenzie Park (Elmira/Elmira Free Academy) along with senior Joshua Slifkin (Flushing/Nordhoff, CA) all recorded a pair of wins this weekend for the Red Dragons.  Carey was the only Oneonta player to go undefeated, recording both his wins at sixth singles.

Slifkin, along with doubles partner and classmate, Adam Shapiro (East Rockaway/Lynbrook), went 3-0 during the tournament at second doubles.

Oneonta will next be in action on Sep. 20 when they travel to Union College for a dual match beginning at 4:00 p.m.
