ONEONTA, N.Y.—The SUNY Oneonta men's tennis team surrendered only eight sets en route to a 9-0 win today versus visiting Oswego. The Red Dragons rebounded nicely after falling short yesterday at Wheaton (MA) 5-4 on the road. Oneonta is currently 6-5 in dual matches this year and is ranked #19 in the Northeast region as of the last poll on Mar. 17.
Picking up a pair of wins this weekend in singles play were freshman Michael Kennelly, junior Adam Shapiro and senior John Taft. Kennelly and Taft, playing at first and fifth singles respectively, won their matches in straight sets. Shapiro played at second singles on both days and won in three sets yesterday while he took today's match in straight sets.
Kennelly and Taft also won both matches that they played at second doubles this weekend including a 9-8 win yesterday.
Oneonta will be home again on Monday when they host Union College beginning at 4:00 p.m.
