ITHACA, N.Y.—Sophomore Jimmy van de Veerdonk (Putnam Valley, Putnam Valley) scored three times today, but the SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team lost a nonconference battle at Ithaca this afternoon. The game was postponed to today after snow cancelled the contest yesterday.

The opening goal of the game was scored at the 6:55 mark of the first period by Mike Silipo of Ithaca (3-1) to give the Bombers the lead.

Sophomore Mike Salerno (West Babylon, West Babylon) tied the score 25 seconds later after freshman Joe Nacarlo (West Babylon, West Babylon) won the faceoff for Oneonta (1-5). The goal was unassisted as were all of the Red Dragons' goals this afternoon.

The Bombers then seized control of the contest, scoring the next five goals, the last at the 1:53 mark of the second period by Silipo.

van de Veerdonk notched his first goal with 14 seconds remaining in the second period to cut the Bombers lead to 6-2 heading into halftime.

Ithaca scored four times in the third period while holding Oneonta scoreless to go ahead 10-2. The Bombers scored the first goal of the fourth period before an unassisted goal by van de Veerdonk stooped the run of five unanswered goals by the hosts.

The Red Dragons outscored Ithaca 4-3 in the final period for the final of 13-6.

Oneonta will be at Hamilton College next Tuesday for a game beginning at 4:00 p.m.
