ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNYAC released their 2026 men's lacrosse annual awards and All-Conference teams as voted on by the conference coaches, Wednesday afternoon, and the Oneonta men's lacrosse team had seven members named to the SUNYAC's All-Conference teams. It is the most All-Conference selections for the Red Dragons since 2002 as the team had two athletes earn first team honors while the other five received second team recognition.
Senior
Jamie O'Neil (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) and junior
Thomas Hnis (Smithtown, N.Y./Kings Park) garnered All-SUNYAC first team status, while seniors
Aidan Greene (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West),
Daniel Macchiarella (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland), junior
Finn Morris (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach), and sophomores
Hunter Busch (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) and
Sean Grimes (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Croton Harmon) received second team honors. It was the fourth time O'Neil has been named All-Conference in his career, joining Tyler Dunne '08 and Mike Lauer '03 as the only Red Dragons to earn All-SUNYAC four times. It is the second straight season Hnis has earned All-Conference, while it is the first time for Busch, Greene, Grimes, Macchiarella and Morris.

Pete Owens. "Ultimately what we are after is a SUNYAC championship, but we're chipping away at that goal every year. Seven All-SUNYAC selections is a new high-water mark during my tenure here and is a good sign of that progress."
O'Neil led the SUNYAC with 55 assists, breaking his previous single season program record of 52 that he set last season. His 55 assists this year were the ninth most in NCAA Division III this season, while he ranked 13th in the country in assists per game (3.06). In his 18 starts, O'Neil scored 35 goals as he finished third in the conference with 90 points. The Bath, N.Y. native also picked up 21 ground balls and caused six turnovers this season. O'Neil ended his career setting Oneonta program records in career points (308), goals (177), assists (131), career points per game (4.74), single season points (102) and single season assists (55). His 308 career points are also the most recorded career points in SUNYAC history.
Hnis led the conference and set a pair of single season program records with 71 goals and 3.94 goals per game. He finished the season tied for fourth in NCAA Division III in goals scored and was 10th in goals per game. Hnis was second overall in the league with 94 points, totaling 23 assists in the 18 games he started. The junior attackman totaled 11 man-up goals, collected 39 ground balls, and caused two turnovers. He is currently at 173 career goals, trailing O'Neil by four, and Hnis is third in program history with 228 career points.
Greene played 14 games for the Red Dragons and started two in his senior campaign. He co-led the team with Busch and was tied for sixth in the SUNYAC with 26 caused turnovers, while he grabbed the team's second most 52 ground balls. Greene scored two goals in his final game for two points this season and finished with eight goals and three assists for 11 points in his four years. He ended his career causing 64 turnovers, the second most in Red Dragon history.
Macchiarella appeared in every game with 14 starts as an attackman for Oneonta. He recorded at least one point in seven of the last eight games of the season, finishing with 12 goals and nine assists for 21 points, the fifth most on the team this year. Macchiarella scored three man-up goals, gathered 10 ground balls and caused a turnover. He finished his career with 28 goals and 21 assists for 49 points.
Busch played in each game for the Red Dragons with 16 starts as a defenseman. Along with causing 26 turnovers that co-led the team, he picked up 30 ground balls. Busch collected a career-high seven ground balls in the SUNYAC Championship against Cortland. He also had six games with at least two caused turnovers, causing a career-high six in the regular season versus Potsdam.
Morris appeared in all 18 games for Oneonta, starting 16 as an attackman. The junior Red Dragon scored 11 goals with eight assists for 19 points, the sixth most on the team. He recorded at least one point in six of the last seven games of the season, and he scored the game-winning goal in the Battle of the Hills against Hartwick. Morris picked up 11 ground balls and caused one turnover.
Grimes played in 15 games this season as the Red Dragons faceoff specialist. He won 136 faceoffs, which is the 10th most in a single season in program history. The sophomore FOGO was seventh in the conference and led the team with 67 groundballs. Offensively, he recorded his first career goal against New Paltz, while adding two assists for three points.
Oneonta finished the season with an overall record of 10-8. The Red Dragons went 6-1 in conference play to earn the second seed in the SUNYAC tournament, where they advanced to the championship game for the second straight season.
