Four days after having played each other for second place in the SUNYAC East Division, the Oneonta State women's tennis team met rival Cortland today in the third place match on the final day of the 2011 SUNYAC Tournament at the Eastside Racquet Club in Manlius, N.Y.  For Oneonta, the result was the same as it was this past Wednesday and the team finished in fourth place overall in the final team standings.

Oneonta fell to its rival, 5-1, with three matches either not completed or competed.  The lone win in the match came at third doubles as freshman Brynn Sussman (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) and junior Christina Wlodarczyk (Avoca/Avoca Central) (Avoca/Avoca Central) won their match 8-4.

Oneonta (8-5) reached the third place match after having won its quarterfinal match on Friday versus Brockport, 7-2.  In its semifinal match yesterday against New Paltz, the Red Dragons fell 6-3.

For the tournament, Sussman and Wlodarczyk went 3-0 in double play for Oneonta.  Sussman was 1-2 at second singles.

Junior Danielle Browarski (Colonie/Colonie) (Colonie/Colonie) was 2-0 at first singles with her match against New Paltz not being played.  She also teamed with sophomore Lauren Skolnick (Sayville/Sayville) (Sayville/Sayville) to go 2-1 at first doubles.  Their only setback came in today's match, 9-7.

The fall season has now come to an end for Oneonta.  They will resume play again in the spring when they take their annual trip south to Florida from Mar. 17-24.
