ONEONTA, NY – Junior Daniel Josepher (Manorville/Eastport-South Manor) scored twice including the game winner in the sixth minute into the first overtime period to lift the Red Dragons over visiting Geneseo this afternoon at Red Dragon Field, 2-1.

Oneonta is currently 6-2-2 overall and unbeaten in conference play at 3-0-1, which puts them at the top of SUNYAC standings. SUNY Geneseo, who entered today's game in first place, slips to 6-3-1 overall and 3-1 in SUNYAC.

Oneonta remains unbeaten in the last eight games while also tying the men's soccer program record for unbeaten games at home, which currently stands at 23. The streak started on October 9th, 2009, when they tied SUNY Plattsburgh, 0-0.

The first half played out to be a midfield battle, as Oneonta held a slight advantage in shots (3-2) and corners (4-3) leading into intermission. The best chance for either team came in the 30th minute when Geneseo's Mat Rough (Warwick/Warwick Valley) hit the crossbar from the top of the box.

Early in the second half, Craig Schackner (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills West) nearly put Geneseo ahead, but his shot also nailed the crossbar and came back.

The games first goal came in the 82nd minute of regulation when junior Alex Shkreli (Bedford/Fox Lane) (Bedford/Fox Lane) passed into the box where Josepher moved the ball by a defender before clipping the ball with the outside of his left foot, which slid along the ground past Geneseo's keeper.

Seven minutes later, Matt Solimano (Webster/Thomas) served a free kick 45 yards out to Neil Allen (Pittsford/Sutherland) who headed the ball over Oneonta's Max Siegelman (Roslyn/Roslyn) to tie the game.

Five minutes into overtime, Nicholas Lange (Freeville/Dryden) (Freeville/Dryden) served the ball inside the 18, and found teammate Nicholas Gregg (Apalachin/Owego Free Academy) (Apalachin/Owego Free Academy) who passed to Josepher and one touched the ball into Geneseo's net.

The Blue Knights lead in shots, 8-7 and Oneonta held the edge in corners, 7-6.

The Red Dragons will return to action this coming Friday, October 7th against Potsdam at home beginning at 4:00 p.m.
