CORTLAND, N.Y. – The SUNY Oneonta women's tennis team completed play in the SUNYAC East Division today at Cortland by splitting a pair of matches on the day. The Red Dragons picked up its initial win of 2010 by sweeping Plattsbugh, 9-0, but then they fell to New Paltz 7-2 to fall to 1-2 in the early season.

Picking up a pair of wins at #1 singles today was sophomore Danielle Browarski (Colonie) as she won a third set super tiebreaker against Rachel Hodnett of Plattsburgh. She then came back later in the day and defeated Stephanie Schara of New Paltz in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Browarski also picked up a win at first doubles in the Plattsburgh match with her partner, senior Emily Shannon (East Northport/Northport).

Other double winners today for Oneonta were Carly Smith (Binghamton) and Carly Fried (Somers), who won both of their matches at second doubles. Smith also won at third singles in straight sets against Kristen Case of Plattsburgh, 6-1, 6-2.

Oneonta will be in action again this coming Thursday, Sep. 16, on the road at Elmira for a match beginning at 4:00 p.m.
