Box Score The SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team took its three-game winning streak on the road today to play Plattsburgh and came away with a hard fought 12-9 victory for its fourth consecutive
win. The Red Dragons win raised its overall record to 7-4 while keeping its SUNYAC record a perfect 3-0, which put them in first place. The 3-0 start in conference play is the first time since 2002 that Oneonta has won its first three SUNYAC games on the schedule. Its best start all-time in conference play was the previous season when the Red Dragons won its first five conference games in finishing 5-1 overall.
Today's win was a total team effort as five players registered two goals each. Freshman #Jimmy van de Veerdonk# led all players with four points on one goal and three assists.
Sophomore goalie, #Chris Miles (Manlius/Fayetteville Manlius)#, had his best game in goal for Oneonta, making 21 saves, many of which were from close range.
Oneonta had an 8-4 lead at halftime and then held off a fourth quarter rally by the Cardinals to secure the win.
Seniors Scott Weiner (Suffern/Suffern) and #Steve Loesch (Massapequa/St. Anthony's)#, juniors #Brian Kollar (East Islip/East Islip)# and #Ryan Waibel (West Islip/West Islip)# and sophomore #Blair Hanson (Fayetteville/Fayetteville Manlius)# were the five Oneonta players to score two goals each in the contest.
Oneonta will be at home this coming Saturday against SUNYAC foe Brockport beginning at 1:00 p.m.
