Box Score The SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team put together a tremendous offensive effort today in defeating Oswego 17-9 going away. After trailing 3-2 at the end of the first quarter, the Red Dragons exploded for seven goals in the second quarter to take command of the contest en route to the lopsided victory. The win for
Oneonta (6-4/2-0) was its third straight as they have outscored its opponents 56-21 during that stretch.
Senior #Scott Weiner (Suffern/Suffern)# and junior #Scott Kellman (Suffern/Suffern)# gave Oneonta a 2-0 lead six minutes into the first quarter.
Oswego countered with three straight goals to take its only lead of the game. Freshman Adam Jean (Tully/Tully), sophomores Andy Williams (Hamburg/Eden) and Andy Lever (Lindenhurst/Lindenhurst) each scored for Oswego (4-7/0-2).
Oneonta put the game out of reach in the second quarter with its seven goals while allowing only a pair of scores by Oswego to take a 9-5 lead at halftime. Senior #Steve Loesch (Massapequa/St. Anthony's)# led the charge with two goals and a pair of assists. Loesch's second goal came with three seconds left in the quarter to give the Red Dragons more momentum going into intermission.
Kellman finished the game with four goals and two assists. Loesch added his pair of goals to go with four assists for a six-point afternoon.
Oneonta's will be in action again this Wednesday when they travel to Plattsburgh for a SUNYAC contest beginning at 4:00 p.m.
