Men's soccer rebounds to defeat SUNY Potsdam

Dan Josepher nets a pair to lead Red Dragons

POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Oneonta men's soccer team got two goals from sophomore Dan Josepher (Manorville) on Saturday to defeat SUNY Potsdam 2-1 in SUNYAC action on the road. The Red Dragons (8-3-2/5-2 SUNYAC) rebounded from its defeat on Friday at Plattsburgh by the score of 4-0.

SUNY Potsdam jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the match on a goal by Chris Mack in the sixth minute. The goal came off a scramble in front of the goal where Mack came away with the loose ball before putting into the back of the goal.

Oneonta, which held a decisive advantage in shots in the opening half, finally converted an opportunity in the final minute of the half to tie the score at 1-1. Josepher was able to get his head on a ball that was passed in close by classmateJeff Christian (Middletown).

Josepher's game-winner came in the 76th minute of play off a rebound on a save by the Potsdam keeper. Freshman Addison Straub (Manlius) took the initial shot that was not controlled, which allowed Josepher to take advantage of the loose ball.

Sophomore Max Siegelman made three saves in the game to record the win for the Red Dragons, who will journey back north this coming Wednesday for a match against Skidmore beginning at 7:00 p.m.
