     SUNY Oneonta junior #Brian Hooks (Cohoes/Shaker)# led four players in double figures with 18 points as the Red Dragons defeated former SUNYAC foe, SUNYIT, 78-67. Today's contest was the first of two games Oneonta (7-1) will play in the ECAC Holiday Classic in Florida. Tomorrow the Red Dragons will face Wheaton College of Massachusetts at 10 a.m. before returning to Oneonta on Thursday.
     Hooks scored 12 of his 18 points in the first half when the Red Dragons opened up a 37-25 lead at halftime. Hooks hit 6-of-10 shots from behind the three-point line as Oneonta finished the game hitting 8-of-18 from long distance including 4-of-6 in the second half.
     Senior #Brian Beckford (Brooklyn/Christ the King)# recorded his fourth double double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. He hit 7-of-16 from the field for the game while adding five assists, two blocks and a steal to his stat line.
     After trailing 3-0 in the first two minutes of the game, Oneonta took control of the game with six straight points including four by senior #Michael Grimes (Albany/Catholic Central)#, who finished the game with 10 points and six boards.
     SUNYIT cut the Oneonta halftime lead to nine points in the first four minutes of the second half, but Oneonta put the game out of reach with an 11-0 run over the next three minutes en route to the easy win.
     Junior #Derek Hahn (Youngsville/Sullivan West)# came off the bench to score a season high 15 points in 26 minutes of action.
Oneonta shot just under 50 percent from the floor for the game (49.1%) connecting on 27-of-55 shots. They finished with 16 assists, led by Beckford's five, while collecting 10 steals.
