ONEONTA, N.Y. - SUNY Oneonta head men's basketball coach Cameron Conover announced the Red Dragons' complete schedule for the 2026-27 season this week, with the Red Dragons hosting 12 home contests.
Coming off a second-place finish in the SUNYAC regular-season standings last season, the Red Dragons are set to face a slew of strong opponents during the upcoming campaign as they look to secure their tenth consecutive playoff appearance.
"With every schedule build, there are a few priorities that we are trying to achieve each year," Conover said. "First and foremost, we want a variety of competitive experiences, both at home and on the road, that will prepare us for SUNYAC Conference play come January and February. Additionally, it is important that we test ourselves early, get exposed in ways that spur growth and challenge our comfort zones, and prepare for the type of competition needed to compete in our conference. When you put a schedule together against perennial NCAA Tournament teams like Williams, Roanoke, and Catholic, you know that you are going to come out of that wash with a ton of great competitive experiences and growth opportunities."
"Additionally, we have the opportunity to play a road game versus Division I Marist (December 12), and since we have players from that part of the state, this provides an opportunity to take players home and have them compete in front of friends and family," continued Conover.
The Red Dragons open the season on the road against cross-town rival Hartwick on Tuesday, November 10, in the annual Battle of the Hills.
Oneonta will compete in three in-season tournaments. November 14-15, the Red Dragons host the 5th Annual Michael A. Freilich Memorial Tip-Off Tournament, which includes St. John Fisher, John Jay College, and St. Joseph's University-Long Island. From November 21-22, Oneonta travels to Salisbury, Maryland, to compete in the Governors Challenge, where they will play Roanoke and Salisbury. Oneonta also competes in the Catholic University Holiday Tournament December 21-22 in Washington, D.C. "We are really excited about all three tournaments as the competition will be tough and our guys will have the opportunity to compete against very good teams from different regions of the country. These tournaments will also allow for some great team bonding experiences, and we look forward to doing some sightseeing in Washington, D.C.", said Conover.
The Red Dragons will host non-conference opponents King's College on November 18 and Williams College on December 1.
Oneonta opens SUNYAC play December 5 at Fredonia and stays on the road to face new conference opponent Delhi on December 8.
Oneonta will return to conference play January 7, traveling to Canton, followed by a game at Potsdam on January 8. The Red Dragons are set to play eight games in January with four games on the road and four at home. The Red Dragons host Cobleskill (January 15) and Plattsburgh (January 16), before hitting the road for back-to-back games at Cortland (January 22) and at Alfred State (January 23). Oneonta closes out January with home games vs Potsdam on January 30 and vs Canton on January 30.
Oneonta hits the road to begin February with back-to-back games at Plattsburgh (February 5) and at Cobleskill (February 6). The Red Dragons finish the regular season with four home games vs Morrisville (February 12), Oswego (February 13), Delhi (February 17), and Buffalo State (February 20).
