Memories as a Student Athlete
My greatest sports memory was clinching the win for us while on spring break last year against Clark university. Also, our trip to Portugal.

Personal Reflection
When I first visited SUNY Oneonta, I knew it was going be my home for the four years. I've played tennis for almost 14 years of my life and always wanted to be a college athlete. Coach Lonnie got in touch with me during my senor year of high school, and the rest was history. My experience here at Oneonta has been a dream. I've made lifelong friendships, played some amazing tennis, and prepared myself for life after graduation. I am a communications studies major and plan to work in the public relations field. The professors and staff I've had the pleasure to work with have been amazing and helped me in every way possible to see me succeed.

Tennis was obviously a huge part of my career here at school. Playing on the team for all four years, I've definitely made some lasting memories. One of the greatest experiences I was a part of was our abroad trip to Portugal my freshman year. I had never been out of the country before this and going to Europe was always on my bucket list. The trip was amazing, and I played unbelievable tennis in some unbelievable locations. Spending time with my teammates and just having a great time. I would also like to give a shout out to all the guys I got to play with this year. The chemistry we had was unlike any season I was ever a part of and I was honored to captain such a group. I know once I'm gone, they will be in good hands and represent our school in the best way possible.

Unfortunately, for myself and all of the others graduating this year, our final season and semester was cut short. Being as upsetting as it is, I look back and know that my time here was spent to its fullest potential. In the end it doesn't matter if I win or lose, I'll always be proud to call myself a Red Dragon.

Head Coach Lonnie Mitchel said,
"As a freshman Marco was a starter barely earning a spot in the third doubles position.  As we went through that first season with Marco, it was evident he would grow and develop and be impactful as a men's tennis player.  He slowly evolved throughout his career from an average student to a higher performing pupil.  He grew into a role model for the men's tennis squad becoming a standout both on and off the court.  By the time he got to his junior year he was a full-time starter in both the number one doubles and singles positions.  He was recognized by his peers and head coach earning the captaincy role as a senior.  Marco Ammirati's (Huntington/Huntington) career ended as the number one singles player with his teammates watching him play his last career match at the USTA National Campus in Orlando."
