ITHACA, N.Y. – The Oneonta women's track & field team delivered several standout performances Saturday at the Ithaca College In-Between Meet, highlighted by victories, regional qualifying marks, and multiple top-five finishes at the IC Egan Family Track & Field Complex.
Junior Anya Sloth (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta Senior) paced the Red Dragons with an event victory in the 5,000-meter run, crossing the line in a personal best of 18:19.09 to hit the AARTFC qualifying standard.
On the track, sophomore Jaiden Schrag (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley Central) turned in one of the top performances of the meet in the 100-meter hurdles. Schrag posted the fastest preliminary time at 14.96 before winning the finals in 14.95. Junior Eko Dodd-Brown (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) also qualified for the finals and placed eighth overall in 16.83 after running 15.81 in preliminaries.
The Red Dragons were also strong in the distance events. Junior Olivia Komacek (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) placed third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:58.25, while freshman Summer Sayaves (Levittown, NY/General Douglas MacArthur) finished ninth in 5:08.43. Freshman Alex Friedel (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) added a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run, clocking 2:26.82.
In the field events, Schrag continued her strong day with a fifth-place finish in the long jump at 5.30 meters. Junior Carly Hein (Endwell, NY/Maine Endwell) placed 10th with a jump of 5.02 meters, while Dodd-Brown added a mark of 4.84 meters for 14th overall.
Senior Tarryn Herman (Franklinville, NY/Franklinville) led the throws group with a mark of 48.30 meters in the hammer throw, placing fourth overall. Sophomore Mackenzie Lawrence (Berne, NY/Berne-Knox) followed in eighth with a throw of 44.53 meters, while freshman Brianna Cinamon (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) took 15th at 30.69 meters.
Herman also placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 11.55 meters. Lawrence finished seventh at 11.18 meters, and Cinamon added an 11.09-meter throw to place eighth overall.
Dodd-Brown rounded out the day for the Red Dragons with a 10th-place finish in the javelin throw, recording a mark of 20.46 meters.
Oneonta next competes at the AARTFC Championships on May 13, held at Ursinus College.
