MADISON, Wis. -- Oneonta men's tennis senior William Schmid (Yonkers/Salesian HS) and junior Chris Chippari (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) were named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (WIAC) Men's Tennis East Division Doubles Team of the Week for the week of March 30-April 5, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon. It is the first time the pairing has received the conference's accolade. Schmid and Chippari went 2-0 in doubles play at No. 1 doubles during the week to help Oneonta go 1-1 overall.

The Red Dragons duo started the week off strong defeating No. 67-ranked Union College's Vivaan Gupta and Reilly Fowles on the top court, 6-4. Chippari and Schmid then overwhelmed Farmingdale's top duo, Zakaria Ahmed and Devan Melandro, 6-3, to help Oneonta earn the doubles match point. The Red Dragons went on to celebrate Senior Day with a 4-3 victory over the Rams. Chippari and Schmid are now 9-8 as the team's top pairing this season. 

Oneonta (8-9) returns to the courts on Saturday, April 11, for a non-conference at No. 41-ranked Hamilton at 4 pm.
