Red Dragons Conclude Cortland Classic

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's track & field team finished the Cortland Classic on Saturday afternoon, with the Red Dragon well represented in multiple events.

Junior Eko Dodd-Broen placed second in the heptathlon with 3,765 points. Freshman Eva Croft (Sherrill, NY/Vernon Verona Sherrill Central) scored 3,186 points for ninth overall, while junior Jacey Hinds (Blossvale, NY/Camden Senior) had 3,013 for 11th place.

On the track, junior Goa Engel ran an AARTFC qualifying time in the 5,000 at 18:25.91 for second place. Junior Anya Sloth (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta Senior) took fourth at 18:45.46, while freshman Maria Morales (Wallkill, NY/Wallkill Senior) took seventh at 22:56.45.

Continuing in the distance events, sophomore Natalia Sweat (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh) ran a personal record and AARTFC time of 2:16.05 to finish second in the 800-meter. Freshman Alex Friedel (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) took ninth at 2:37.10, and junior Keyla Mendoza (Freeport, NY/Freeport) ran a 2:37.80 for tenth place.

In the 100-meter hurdle finals, sophomore Jaiden Schrag (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley Central) took second at 14.85. She then won the 400-meter hurdles with an AARTFC qualifying time of 1:05.77.

Freshman Olivia Nicholls (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) set a personal record of 12.22 in the 100-meter finals to place fifth overall. She added a personal best of 24.89 in the 200-meter for fourth overall. Freshman Gracie Gorrell (Columbus, NY/Unadilla Valley Central) took tenth at a personal best of 25.81.

The Oneonta 4x100 relay of Schrag, Nicholls, Gorrell, and junior Nicolette DuBose (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) placed second at 49.18.

Oneonta recorded multiple top-ten finishes in the field events. Sophomore Mackenzie Lawrence (Berne, NY/Berne-Knox) placed fourth in the shot put at 12.18 meters, while senior Tarryn Herman (Franklinville, NY/Franklinville) was fifth at 11.95 meters. Freshman Brianna Cinamon (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) took eighth at 10.92 meters. Herman earned eighth place in the discus at 32.98 meters, and junior took ninth at 31.57 meters.

DuBose led Oneonta with a seventh-place finish in the triple jump at 10.42 meters. Sophomore Ashley LaReddola (Coram, NY/Longwood) earned a personal best of 10.23 meters for ninth place.
