CLINTON, N.Y. — The Oneonta women's track & field team delivered a well-rounded performance Saturday at the Hamilton College Continental Invitational, highlighted by several top finishes and strong efforts across both track and field events.
On the track, Melinda Reid (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) led the way with a runner-up finish in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing in a personal record of 15.97 seconds. Eko Dodd-Brown (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) added a fourth-place finish in 16.36 seconds, while Alana Westerling (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) placed seventh with a time of 17.34 seconds, giving Oneonta strong depth in the event. Eva Croft (Sherrill, NY/Vernon Verona Sherrill Central) (18.00) and Ashlee Sphabmixay (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) (18.70) also contributed in the hurdles.
In the sprint events, Carly Hein (Endwell, NY/Maine Endwell) paced the Red Dragons in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.87 seconds, followed closely by Daniea Austin (Goshen, NY/Goshen) in 13.93 seconds. Hein also turned in a strong performance in the long jump, placing third with a mark of 5.01 meters.
In the 200-meter dash, Dodd-Brown led Oneonta with a time of 28.37 seconds, while Austin added a 28.64-second effort.
The middle-distance group was led by Keyla Mendoza (Freeport, NY/Freeport)-Stapleton, who finished sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:37.74. In the 1500 meters, Eva Woodworth (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) placed 10th in 5:26.36, followed by Lilly Jacobs (Williamson, NY/Williamson Central) (5:37.36), Maria Morales (Wallkill, NY/Wallkill Senior) (5:48.29), Kayla Postolowski (Monroe, NY/Monroe Woodbury) (5:51.50), and Makenzie Hughes (Monroe, NY/Monroe Woodbury) (6:09.99).
In the 400 meters, Sam Salomon (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) recorded a time of 1:08.22 to lead Oneonta.
The Red Dragons also saw success in the field events. Ashley LaReddola (Coram, NY/Longwood) cleared 2.90 meters to place third in the pole vault and added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 9.96 meters. Dodd-Brown followed in fifth in the triple jump (9.89 meters), while Westerling posted a mark of 9.88 meters.
In the throws, Brianna Cinamon (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) placed second in the shot put with a throw of 10.89 meters and added a personal record mark of 28.08 meters in the discus. Sophia Mitreski (Hawthorne, NJ/Hawthorne) recorded a third-place finish in the discus with a throw of 30.97 meters and added a 29.93-meter mark in the hammer throw.
Oneonta capped the meet with a fifth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, as the quartet of Salomon, Kaitlynn Slobodin (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow), Mendoza-Stapleton, and Woodworth posted a time of 4:47.27.
Oneonta next competes at the Cortland Classic on April 12.
