Wrestling Dismantles Keystone and Penn State Altoona in Tri-Meet

LA PLUME, PA. -- The Oneonta wrestling team trounced Keystone College and Penn State Altoona in the Keystone Tri-Meet to improve to 3-0 in dual play, Tuesday afternoon. The Red Dragons defeated the Giants, 47-12, while they shutout the Lions 59-0. The team combined for four pins and two tech falls in the two wins.

Oneonta 47, Keystone 12 
Freshman Jack Borowiec (), sophomore Ryley Monica (Adams, NY/South Jefferson Central), and senior Andrew Morris (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent) each recorded a pin in their respective matches against Keystone. Borowiec pinned Tanner Pringle in 57 seconds at 133 pounds, Monica posted a 2:02 fall over Codi Bomboy at 165 pounds, and Morris registered a 4:55 fall in the 285 lb. bout against James Craig. Sophomore Jackson Maby (Susquehanna, PA/Susquehanna Community) bested Michael Palinkas at 149 pounds with a 19-1 tech fall in 1:47.

Junior Tristan Hinchcliff (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) (125 lbs.), freshman Kingston Strouse (Northport, N.Y./Northport) (157 lbs.), and seniors Aydin DeForest (West Winfield, NY/Mount Markham) (174 lbs.) and senior Jack Ryan (Trumbull, CT/) (184 lbs.) all won their respective matches via forfeit.

Ryan pinned Andrew Weaver in 36 seconds at 184 pounds, while junior Cael Owen (Gillett, PA/Horseheads) defeated Gronzalo Santana Hernandez in a 15-0 tech fall in 2:28 at 165 lbs.

The other eight matches in the dual were awarded to the Red Dragons by forfeit. Those who won were junior Billy Colloca (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon Senior High) (125 lbs.), Borowiec (133 lbs.), junior Phillip Venne (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) (141 lbs.), Maby (149 lbs.), Strouse (157 lbs.), DeForest (174 lbs.), senior Carson LiCastri (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow High School) (197 lbs.), and Morris (285 lbs.).

Oneonta won a handful of exhibition matches by either tech fall or fall. Sophomore Devin McNamara (Elwood, NY/John Glenn HS Elwood) had an 18-0 tech in 2:12 over Keystone's Pringle at 133 pounds, while freshman Jason Kelly () recorded an 18-1 tech fall in 2:04 over Keystone's Palinkas at 149 pounds. Freshman Dave Fernandez () pinned the Giants' Bomboy in 3:39 at 165 lbs., and freshman Santino Palmisano () scored a 1:54 fall versus Altoona's Andrew Weaver at 174 pounds.

The Red Dragons are back in action on Saturday, January 10, for the Maganaro Duals at Ursinus College starting at 10 am. Oneonta will face Trinity College, Roger Williams, Johnson & Wales, and Arcadia.
