Oneonta Competes at Ithaca Quad Meet

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's track & field team continued action at the Ithaca Quad Meet, placing fourth out of four teams with 85.5 points. Ithaca won the meet with 159 points.

The track events kicked off with the 60-meter prelims, where sophomore Jaiden Schrag (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley Central) took third at 9.41 to reach the finals. She then placed second in the finals at 9.20.

In the mile, freshman Summer Sayaves (Levittown, NY/General Douglas MacArthur) led Oneonta with a 16th-place finish at 5:49.95. Freshman Alex Friedel (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) took 17th at 5:53.40.

The Red Dragons had two reach the 60-meter finals in freshmen Olivia Nicholls (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) and Gracie Gorrell (Columbus, NY/Unadilla Valley Central). Nicholls took fourth with a personal best of 8.10, while Gorrell was fifth at a personal best of 8.12. In the finals, Nicholls crossed fifth at 8.11, while Gorrell took sixth at 8.15.

Gorrell continued with a personal-best performance in the 200 meters, finishing fourth at 26.96. Schrag placed sixth at 27.11, and Nicholls took seventh at 27.26.

Junior Gia Engel (Syosset, NY/Syosset) recorded a personal best of 10:53.71 to finish third in the 3,000-meter. Junior Anya Sloth (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta Senior) grabbed a personal best of 10:56.75 for fifth overall, while freshman Jill Cinquina (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) took sixth at 11:08.37.

Moving into the throwing events, senior Tarryn Herman (Franklinville, NY/Franklinville) placed fifth in the weight throw at 14.30 meters. Sophomore Mackenzie Lawrence (Berne, NY/Berne-Knox) hit a personal best of 14.05 meters for sixth. Junior Sophia Mitreski (Hawthorne, NJ/Hawthorne) had a personal best of 11.15 meters for tenth overall.

Herman added a personal record of 12.48 meters to place second in the shot put. Lawrence took third at 12.40 meters. Freshman Brianna Cinamon (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) placed tenth at 10.30 meters.

In the high jump, freshman Sophie Zillgitt (Belfast, NY/Belfast) cleared 1.43 meters for eighth overall.

Schrag won the long jump at 5.28 meters, while junior Eko Dodd-Brown (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) hit 5.17 meters for second place.

Oneonta next competes at the RIT Invitational on January 23 at 4 p.m.
