ITHACA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's track & field concluded the Cornell Southern Tier Invitational on Saturday, with the Red Dragons having strong performances in the early-season meet.
The meet opened with the 60-meter hurdles, where sophomore Jaiden Schrag (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley Central) placed sixth in the prelims at 9.32. Junior Eko Dodd-Brown (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) ran a 9.80 to take sixth. Schrag was fifth in the finals at 9.28, and Dodd-Brown was seventh at 9.88.
In the 60-meter dash, junior Nicolette DuBose (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) matched her personal record to place sixth at 7.91. She took seventh in the finals at 8.13. Running the event for the first time were freshmen Olivia Nicholls (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) and Gracie Gorrell (Columbus, NY/Unadilla Valley Central). Nicholls posted an 8.12 for 13th, while Gorrell was 14th at 8.16.
Schrag took 12th in the 300-meter sprint with a 43.56. Gorrell was 16th (43.98), and Nicholls placed 18th (44.83).
Senior Tarryn Herman (Franklinville, NY/Franklinville) recorded an AARTFC qualifying mark of 14.80 meters in the weight throw to take seventh. She took seventh in the shot put at 12.06 meters. Sophomroe Mackenzie Lawrence (Berne, NY/Berne-Knox) placed tenth with a personal best of 13.13 meters, and was ninth in the shot put at 11.51 meters.
Oneonta next competes at the Ithaca Quad Meet on Saturday, January 17.
