ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNYAC released its 2025 men's lacrosse annual awards including Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Paul Rose Coaching Staff of the Year and All-Conference teams as voted on by the conference coaches. Jamie O'Neil (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) was tabbed as the conference's Offensive Player of the Year.
Seniors
Stephen Barikyan (Tappan/Tappan Zee) and
Matthew Mangels (St. James/Smithtown East) joined O'Neil on the All-Conference first team, while seniors
Andrew Guinto (Syracuse/West Genesee),
Anthony Munro (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) and sophomore
Thomas Hnis (Smithtown, N.Y./Kings Park) all received second team honors. It is the third time O'Neil has earned All-SUNYAC status, the second time for Barikyan, and the first time for the other four Red Dragons.

Pete Owens. "I believe it is a reflection of their individual dedication to their craft, and also to the trajectory of our program."
O'Neil became the fourth Red Dragon in program history to be named the SUNYAC Player of the Year, the first since Stephen Panno in 2019. He led the conference this season in points (102) and assists (52) and was ranked third in goals (50). In SUNYAC play alone, the attackman was first in assists (17), second in points (39), and fourth in goals (22). O'Neil had four nine-point performances against Hartwick, Utica, Canton, and Potsdam. The junior scored a game-high six goals versus the Roos and a career-high seven assists against the Pioneers. O'Neil was also named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament team after he recorded five goals and five assists for 10 points in two games.
Barikyan led the league overall and in conference play in face-offs won and ground balls collected. This season, the senior appeared in 18 games for the team, won 266 out of 442 face-offs for a .602 winning percentage, and scooped up 149 ground balls. Against SUNYAC opponents, he took 122 out of 186 face-offs, a .656 winning percentage, and grabbed 68 ground balls. Barikyan broke a few program records this year, including most face-offs won in a single game (25 vs. Canton) and single season (266), and ground balls collected in a game (17 vs. Canton) and in a season (149). He finished his career as the second Red Dragon in program history to win at least 500 face-offs, joining Jim van de Veerdonk '13.
Mangels appeared in every game for the Red Dragons as a defender. He finished second on the team, and seventh in the conference, with 26 caused turnovers. That mark is the third-best in a single season in program history. The senior also collected 48 ground balls, which was the third most on the team, and contributed offensively with two goals and two assists for four points. Mangels had six games with multiple caused turnovers and caused a season-high three turnovers three separate times.
Hnis led the SUNYAC with 60 goals, 10 man-up scores, and only trailed O'Neil with 84 points as he totaled 24 assists in 19 games. The attackman was one of 19 players in Division III to record at least 60 goals, and in conference play alone, he led the league with 26 goals and 41 points. Hnis joined Anthony Pisciotto '02 as the only Red Dragons in program history to score 60 goals in a season, and he finished second in program history in goals in a season (60), man-up goals (10), fourth in points (84), and he became the sixth Oneonta player to score at least eight goals in a game (Mar. 20 vs. Utica). He is currently sixth in career goals (102) and tied for 10th in career points (134).
Munro appeared in all 19 games for the Red Dragons to earn second team recognition as an offensive midfielder. He was third on the team with 24 goals, which was 17th most in the conference, and four assists for 28 points. The senior scored at least one goal in 14 games this season, tallied eight multi-goal games, and he was tied for 15th with 11 goals in conference play. Munro ended his career by being named the 2025 SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Elite 20 honoree at the conference championship.
Guinto played in all 19 games for Oneonta this season as he received second team honors as a short stick. The senior contributed everywhere on the field this season for the Red Dragons. He finished tied for third on the team, and 12th in the SUNYAC, in caused turnovers (18), fourth on the team in ground balls (28), and he recorded nine points off four goals and five assists. Guinto had four games where he caused multiple turnovers, and he capped off his career with a goal, three caused turnovers and three ground balls in the conference tournament.
The six Red Dragons helped Oneonta finished the regular season 9-10 overall, third in the SUNYAC at 5-2, and the SUNYAC tournament runner-up, the program's first conference title game since 2002.
