Five Oneonta Wrestlers Named NWCA Scholar All-Americans

ONEONTA, N.Y. - Five Oneonta wrestlers earned National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Scholar All-American honors this season. Juniors Jack Ryan (Trumbull, CT/), Carson LiCastri (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow High School), Avery Leonard (Milford, N.Y./Milford Central), and freshmen Jackson Maby (Susquehanna, PA/Susquehanna Community) and Ryley Monica (Adams, NY/South Jefferson Central) all received the honor.

"The NWCA is proud to honor these outstanding individuals who demonstrate excellence on the mat and in the classroom as well," said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer.

To be eligible for Scholar All-American, student-athletes must place in the top 8 in the regional tournament or wrestle at least 15 matches and have a win percentage greater than 66%. They also must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Ryan finished third in the 184 lbs. weight class at the NCAA Division III Championship Meet to become a two-time All-American. Ryan finished the season 35-2 with 17 falls, two tech falls, six majors, and a sudden victory. He was crowned the New York State Collegiate Champion, the SUNYAC Champion, and the Region 2 Qualifier Champion at 184 pounds.

LiCastri qualified for the national championship at 194 lbs. LiCastri finished the season 40-7 overall with 22 pins, six tech falls, and four majors. He was the New York State Collegiate Champion at 197, received All-SUNYAC honors with a second-place finish at SUNYAC Championships, and placed third at the Region 2 Qualifier for his first NCAA Championship appearance. LiCastri also finished tied for second in the NCAA with 22 falls.

Leonard finished the season as the NCAA leader in tech falls with 23. He was All-SUNYAC Second Team in the 149 and was NYS All-State and the NYS 149 Champion. Leonards won SUNYAC Wrestler of the Week twice and was ranked as high as fourth in the nation at his weight class.

Maby took home SUNYAC Rookie of the Week honors seven times at the 141 weight class. He went 16-5 in dual matches and ranked sixth in the region. Additionally, he was NYS All-State and the NYS Champion at 141.

Monica wrestled at the 157 weight class, finishing the season at 20-10. He was among the top eight in the regional meet and was the NYS All-State.
