ONEONTA, N.Y. - Managing an academic and athletic schedule can prove to be difficult, but one SUNY Oneonta student-athlete has found success in both. Women's track & field junior and Art and Design major Nicolette DuBose (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) recently earned the Excellence in New Media Award at the 2025 Juried Student Show on April 10.

DuBose's featured animation, To The Moon, was selected as one of the 20 award winners this year. The Juried Student Art Show showcased over 90 pieces created by 70 students over the past academic year. This year's awards were juried by our Spring 2025 School of Liberal Arts Artists-in-Residence, Georgia b Smith and Zelda Smith.

The Excellence in New Media Award is an annual award that celebrates the work of students who excel in newer and non-traditional art practices. It was founded in 2023 through a generous donation by SUNY Oneonta alum Vicki Andritz.

Viewers can see DuBose's animation and all of the Juried Student Show at the Martin-Mullen Gallery from March 25 to May 3. The animation can also be viewed here.

In addition to her strong classroom performances, DuBose has had a successful track season. She was named All-SUNYAC Second Team in the indoor triple jump at 10.97 meters and qualified for three events in the AARTFC Indoor Track & Field Championships. DuBose has already set multiple personal records in the outdoor season and looks to continue at the Cortland Classic on April 18.
