Oneonta Secures Senior Day Win Over Plattsburgh

ONEONTA, N.Y. - Four Red Dragons scored in double digits as the Oneonta men's basketball team grabbed an 82-78 senior day victory over Plattsburgh on Saturday afternoon. Oneonta moves to 14-8 overall and 9-6 in the SUNYAC, while Plattsburgh falls to 11-10 and 8-6 in the conference.

"Tonight was another good defensive performance," said head coach Cameron. "Our guys played tough defense and gave great effort all night. Every time Plattsburgh made a run, we responded and made the necessary plays."

Plattsburgh jumped out ahead 6-0 early in the first half before sophomore Kobe Long (Rochester, NY/McQuaid) knocked down a three-pointer at 16:34. Freshman Cam LaClair (Selkirk, NY/Bethlehem) scored inside, and then three straight baskets from junior Delano Knox (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) gave the Red Dragons an 11-9 lead. The Cardinals tied 14-14 after Ikechukwu Ezike hit a triple at 12:43. Oneonta responded with scores from Long and senior Caleb Brown (Brooklyn, NY/Uncommon Charter) made it 18-14.

Another Long three at 7:06 gave Oneonta an eight-point lead to force a Plattsburgh timeout. The Cardinals pulled within two following a layup by Nate Pondexter, Jr., but three points by junior Tyler Harts (Queens, NY/Sewanaka) made it 35-29. Oneonta closed out the half on a 5-2 run to make it 40-33 at the break.

LaClair knocked down a three at 17:37 and an 8-0 Red Dragons' run pushed the lead to 53-40. Oneonta led by as much as 16 points, but Plattsburgh responded with an 8-0 span to cut the Oneonta lead to single digits.

The Red Dragons built back to a 14-point lead. The Cardinals pulled within single digits again in the final seconds, but Oneonta had time on its side to pick up the victory.

Long led all scorers with 28 points and six assists. Castillo added 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while Knox had 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. LaClair scored ten points.
