SARATOGA SPRINGS N.Y.-- The Oneonta men's tennis team dropped on the road to Skidmore College, 7-0, Saturday morning. The result moves Oneonta to 4-2 as they continue through the season and Skidmore to 2-0.
The Thoroughbreds took all three doubles matches for the doubles point. The Red Dragons' No. 1 duo of junior
William Schmid (Yonkers/Salesian HS) and sophomore
Chris Chippari (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C Ketcham), as well as the No. 2 pair freshmen
Peter Pitaleff (Garrison, N.Y./Highland Falls Fort Montgomery) and
Jaden Ritterman (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains), fell in their doubles match, 6-1.
Schmid played on the No. 1 singles court and dropped straight sets to Yuval Goodman, 6-0, 6-1. In his singles match on the No. 2 court, Chippari gave a fighting effort but was bested by Griffin Biernat, 6-1, 6-4. On court No. 3, Ritterman battled Fletcher King but unfortunately fell, 6-1, 6-3. Ryan Geller (Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y./Cornwall) went back and forth in his first set, but Adel Aissaoui took the match, 6-3, 6-0. Pitaleff and junior
Nate Inzerillo (Center Moriches/Center Moriches) fell in straight sets on courts No. 4 and No. 6, respectively.
The Red Dragons are set to bounce back on the road on Saturday, March 1, against Hobart at 11 am.
