Oneonta Men's Swim & Dive Finishes SUNYAC-AMCC Championships

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's swimming & diving team wrapped up the 2025 SUNYAC-AMCC Championships on Saturday evening at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center. The Red Dragons placed fifth out of ten teams with 365 points, while Cortland won the title with 867. Senior James Llewellyn (Great River, NY/East Islip) medaled in the 200-yard backstroke to earn his third championship medal. Llewellyn also earned the James Fulton Award, which is given annually to a senior male swimmer based on his improvement throughout his collegiate career.

Llewellyn took second in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:54.42 to secure the silver medal. Junior Delroy Tyrrell (Trincity, Trinidad and Tobago) swam a 1:56.25 to finish sixth overall. Senior Joesph Campise placed 15th at 2:05.01.

Sophomore Andrew Capella (Glenville, NY/Burnt-Hills-Ballston Lake) placed tenth in the 1,650-yard freestyle at 17:30.33, while sophomore Colin Ringwood (Auburn, NY/Auburn) was 16th at 18:18.61.

In the 200-yard breaststroke, junior Brendan Heaney (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks Central) touched 16th at 2:21.66, and junior Calvin Hitzschke (Mexico, NY/Mexico Academy & Central School) was 13th in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:04.40.

Oneonta's 400-yard freestyle relay finished sixth overall. Llewellyn, Ross Caimano (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), Hitzschke, and Cosmo Martinelli (Albany, NY/Albany) swam a 3:13.40.

Freshman Ben Heyman (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) placed eighth in the 3-meter dive with 273.65 points.
