CANTON, N.Y. -- The Oneonta men's tennis team dropped their spring season opening match at St. Lawrence, 7-0, Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons moved to 4-1 overall and the Saints improved to 1-1 this season.
St. Lawrence took all three doubles matches, 6-0, for the doubles point. In singles play, sophomore
Chris Chippari (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C Ketcham) forced a third set tiebreaker in his match against John Hill-Edgar on the No. 2 court, but Hill-Edgar took the match, 6-3, 5-7, 10-2. Junior
William Schmid (Yonkers/Salesian HS) fell on the No. 1 court to Edvin Strandberg, and freshman
Jaden Ritterman (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) was bested by Aidan Baracao on the No. 3 court, 6-2, 6-1. Junior
Nate Inzerillo (Center Moriches/Center Moriches) and freshmen
Peter Pitaleff (Garrison, N.Y./Highland Falls Fort Montgomery) and
Ryan Geller (Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y./Cornwall) dropped their respective singles matches on the remaining three courts in straight sets.
The Red Dragons are back in action on Saturday, February 22, for a road match against Skidmore.
