ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's swimming & diving team picked up a 112-85 senior day victory over New Paltz on Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons placed first in eight events.
Oneonta opened by winning the 200-yard medley relay. Freshman Alexis Gibson (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady), sophomore Alexandria Bard (Schenectady, NY/Duanesburg), and seniors Cadence Dudley (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) and Callie Stinson (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac) took first at 1:59.96.
Senior Lena Nakken (Islip, NY/Islip) won the 1,000-yard freestyle at 11:49.96, while sophomore Ashley Brousseau (Peru, NY/Peru Central) swam at 12:57.76 for third overall. Bard claimed first in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:09.86, and junior Allison LaBarbera (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a 26.41. Stinson earned third at 27.55.
Labarbera swam a 57.27 to win the 100-yard freestyle, and sophomore Alaska Lilliock (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) took second at 59.93. Gibson was first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.75), and Bard placed third (1:09.19).
Nakken grabbed another first place in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:48.16, while Brousseau was second at 6:08.75.
Dudley swam a 1:18.58 to take second in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Oneonta concluded the day by winning the 800-yard freestyle relay. Stinson, Gibson, LaBarbera, and Nakken finished at 8:47.13.
Oneonta will next compete at the SUNYAC Championships in February. 19-22.
