UTICA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's track & field team started the indoor season at Saturday's Utica Holiday Classic. The Red Dragons had four athletes qualify for the AARTFC regional meet, with multiple personal records.
The meet began with the 5,000-meter, with junior Anya Sloth (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta Senior) taking third at an AARTFC time of 18:44.80. Junior Gia Engel (Syosset, NY/Syosset) took fourth at 18:48.58 to qualify for the AARTFC championships, while freshman Jill Cinquina (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) crossed fifth at 19:47.53.
Junior Nicolette DuBose (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) won the 60-meter prelims at 7.92 and then took first in the finals with a personal record and AARTFC qualifying time of 7.91. Freshman Jaiden Schrag (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley Central) took sixth in the prelim (8.19) and set a personal record of 8.13 in the final to finish fourth. Junior Gianna Russo-Sanchez () was fifth in the prelims (8.25).
Schrag continued with a 9.41 in the 60-meter hurdle prelims to take fourth. She improved in the finals with an AARTFC time of 9.23 for third overall. Junior Eko Dodd-Brown (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) reached the finals after running a 9.65 and was seventh in the finals at 9.77.
In the 400-meter, freshman Gracie Gorrell () finished second at 1:04.18. Junior Brianna Senatore (/) crossed fourth at 1:04.50. Russo-Sanchez took 11th at 1:08.94.
Schrag finished sixth in the 200-meter at 27.06, while Gorrell took 12th at 27.62.
Freshman Summer Sayaves (Levittown, NY/General Douglas MacArthur) led Oneonta with a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter at 11:29.97. Junior Olivia Komacek (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) took fifth at 11:40.37, and freshman Alex Friedel (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) crossed sixth at 11:42.06. Senior Keyla Mendoza (Freeport, NY/Freeport) ran an 11:54.97 for seventh overall, while senior Eva Woodworth (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) crossed ninth at 11:57.04.
Moving into the field events, senior Tarryn Herman (Franklinville, NY/Franklinville) took fifth in the weight throw at 14.44 meters. Sophomore Mackenzie set a personal best of 12.67 meters to place tenth.
Lawrence continued with a fourth-place finish in the shot put at 12.22 meters. Herman earned fifth at 11.87 meters, while freshman Brianna Cinamon () had a solid college debut at 11.39 meters for seventh.
Dodd-Brown set a personal record of 5.29 meters in the long jump to finish fourth overall. DuBose tallied a personal best mark of 5.28 meters for fifth. Schrag cleared 5.21 meters for eighth place. DuBose was seventh in the triple jump at 10.42 meters.
In the pole vault, sophomore Ashley LaReddola (Coram, NY/Longwood) cleared 2.72 meters in the pole vault to place fourth.
Junior Melinda Reid () took tenth in the high jump at 1.43 meters, and freshman Sophie Zillgitt () was 12th at 1.43 meters.
